Gui Boratto


Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Gui Boratto is an electronic music composer and producer mostly known for his two albums Chromophobia (released in 2007) and Take My Breath Away (released in 2009). Both his albums were released under German record label Kompakt.

Gui Boratto has worked with other record labels including K2, Audiomatique, Harthouse and Plastic City. His music styles include house, progressive house, techno and minimal techno. His popularity has dramatically increased over the last few years and he is now widely considered as one of minimal techno’s heaviest hitters, along with Border Community prodigy Nathan Fake.

Chromophobia drew uncontested critical approbation and sparked an avalanche of unique productions and remixes. His style is said to be characterized by a blend of ecstatic pop sensibilities and elaborated dance floor arrangements. Gui has featured on numerous compilations, from mix albums released by clubs such as Cocoon, Fabric and Ministry of Sound but also by record labels such as Pokerflat, DFA and Mobilee. With his latest album Take My Breath Away and a comprehensive calendar of dates, Gui shows no sign of slowing the momentum that has powered his ascent to the pinnacle of the electronic music community.

Gui Boratto worked for various consecrated artists before he began to dedicate himself to his own compositions and productions. He released numerous singles and remixed a wide range of artists including Guy J, Robert Babicz, Adam Freeland, Pet Shop Boys, Tocadisco, Massive Attack, Moby, Goldfrapp, Agoria and Oliver Klein. On stage, Gui uses a laptop equipped with Ableton Live, a Jazz Mutant Lemur, a monome and an Evolution Uc33e. His talent makes him a name to look out on the world’s house, techno and minimal scene. Gui Boratto – Chromophobia (2007)

Gui BorattoIn February 2007 Gui Boratto released his first album Chromophobia under record label Kompakt. Chromophobia was given 8.3 out of 10 by music webzine Pitchfork and was awared Mixmag’s Album of the Month. The album features 13 tracks including Mr Decay, Terminal, Gate 7 and Beautiful Life. Gui Boratto – Take My Breath Away (2009)

Gui BorattoIn March 2009 Gui Boratto released his second album Take My Breath Away under record label Kompakt once again. Take My Breath Away was given 8 out of 10 by music webzine PopMatters. The album features 12 tracks including Take My Breath Away, Colors, No Turning Back, Azzurra and Les Enfants. All the music is composed and produced by Gui Boratto.
